Bruckner was a Californian from Hollywood born to Hungarian parents as well as Russian mothers who had separated. Bruckner's paternal grandmother was German. The couple met in Hungary and relocated to the U.S. in 1984 through an asylum camp in Italy. She is the younger sister of two brothers and is the mother of two more sisters.
